New Emergency Sources

There are a number of excellent internet resources for Emergency Preparedness. The LDS Church maintains a great site at http://www.providentliving.org
On the left side of the page, click on "Emergency Preparedness and Response".

This is neat, go to This Site and put in your zip code. The result is a list of hams living in or near your zip code. If some of these are not on your list of emergency communicators, now you can contact them and invite them to participate.

The annual CSEPP/RACES conference will be Nov. 7 at the Red Lion, according to the web site. Sign-in starts at 8:00 AM, and the meeting wraps at about 4:00 PM. The web site is https://www.utah.train.org/. You must create an account and sign in; then the top page will have a link to the ARES/RACES Conference. Follow the link and you can request to attend. The UTRAIN web site is mainly used by the Utah Public Health Dept., but DHS sort of hitchhikes on the system, I gather. (Thanks to Doug Davis, AD7LO for this info!)

If the State or Federal government declares a disaster in your area, you will not be allowed to participate unless you have registered with RACES. You can go HERE to download the .pdf RACES application form.

Finally, Google the phrase "Emergency Preparedness" for a TON of ideas for training and your own personal preparedness.

73 until next time.
